Texas Sex Offenders: Ages 10-17 at time of the crime

Texas law allows juveniles as young as 10 to be included on the public sex offender registry. There are at least 1,004 who were under the age of 14 – which means they were too young to be tried as adults, when they committed offenses.

The juvenile justice system has been designed to give children who break the law a second chance by keeping their criminal records private, yet their names and photos can be posted on the state’s sex offender Website if a judge orders it. This database represents a partial version of the Dallas Morning News analysis of Texas Department of Public Safety records. Identities have been omitted, but you can search by crime, suspect age, suspect gender, victim age and victim gender.

Go to this website, do a search, just put in the age 10, only the age… then click SEARCH.

I do not know if these children on on the registry, but I do know they are tangled up in the Injustice System.

10 years old! Where exactly are they learning about sex and how to do it before their genitals even grow? I wonder what role the Media, television and the Internet played in the lives of these children?

I did another search, entering ONLY age 12. I got Three-Hundred and Seventy-Eight! 378 12 year olds involved in the Criminal Injustice System in Texas at age 12! 12! My God, what can a 12 year old do that would warrant being locked up, branded a sex offender?
